Carpet & upholstery stain removal

Quick, careful action after a spill can help, but the safest next step depends on the material and what was spilled. Avoid turning one mark into a larger damaged area.

Start with the care instructions

Blot a fresh spill gently using a clean white absorbent cloth. Avoid rubbing or soaking. Follow the carpet or upholstery maker’s guidance before using a product, and ask for advice if you do not know the fibre.

Tell us what has already happened

Send a photograph of the mark and the wider area. Explain what was spilled, how long it has been there and any stain removers or home-machine cleaning already attempted. Previous treatment can affect what is possible next.

A stain is not always removable

Some marks are permanent dye changes, bleaching, burns or wear. Cleaning may improve the surrounding soil without removing the mark itself. We assess the area and discuss the likely result before starting.

What stain protection can do

A suitable protection treatment can help make some everyday spills easier to manage. It does not make fabric stain-proof, and spills still need prompt attention. Ask whether protection is appropriate for your carpet or upholstery.
