Sofas and armchairs collect crumbs, hair, body oils and everyday soil. Cleaning starts with understanding the upholstery, rather than choosing the same treatment for every piece.
Look beyond the visible mark
Check the care label and tell us about previous cleaning, spills or products used. Dye stability, backing, seams and existing wear matter alongside the main fabric. A photograph helps, but some decisions need an inspection.
Care between appointments
Vacuum gently with an appropriate attachment, including gaps around cushions. Rotate reversible cushions only if the manufacturer allows it. Blot fresh spills with a clean white cloth and avoid strong untested products or excess water.
Professional cleaning and its limits
Depending on the assessment, the process may include dry-soil removal, suitable pre-treatment and controlled cleaning or extraction. Delicate or unfamiliar fabrics may require a different approach or specialist referral.
Cleaning does not reverse abrasion, faded dyes or permanent stains. Drying also varies with the material, method and room conditions. We explain these points before starting.
